Alexander Konovalov, photographer
Hi, I'm Alex.

Friends call me Alex, and you can too. My last name is Konovalov. If that's hard to remember, think "a can of olives" and you'll be close enough. I answer to both.

Russian is my first language, and I speak fluent English.

My approach: real moments, not stiff poses

I'm not a fan of awkward poses. Nobody's grandmother has ever said, "What I loved most about the wedding was how the groom held his chin at a 45-degree angle."

What I do is stay alert. I look for the tear you didn't mean to shed, your dad's proud face, and the flower girl who has stopped cooperating. Those are the photos you'll show your kids someday. I see something beautiful in every person and every wedding, and each one is a small fairy tale.

Weddings from all over the world

I've photographed American, Russian, Brazilian and Spanish weddings, both in the US and overseas. I've learned that traditions, toasts and dance floors differ from one culture to the next. The happy tears are the same everywhere.

Editing: natural, with a little mood

I keep colors true to life. I adjust saturation and contrast only where it helps bring back the feeling of the moment. Your photos will look the way the day felt, not like they went through a filter.

More than weddings

Weddings are my main focus, but I also do all kind of other events and outdoor sessions. I especially enjoy photographing children with their happy parents. Kids are honest critics, and if they're smiling, I know I'm doing something right. I'm glad to travel wherever you need me.

Where you'll find me

Philadelphia, New Jersey and the surrounding area. I'd also be happy to shoot somewhere new.
